The landing at Gotska Sandön

The boat is normally attempted to dock at the Las Palmas beach, about 4 km from the campgrounds. There it is possible to disembark via a staircase directly onto the beach from the ships bow. Depending on the wind and waves, sometimes the boat is forced to land on a different landing point on the island. Disembarkation then has to take place on rubber boats that hold 6 to 12 people, shuttled from the stern to the beach shore. Lifejackets must be worn. Everyone helps with getting the luggage ashore, following the crew's instructions.

Once on the island you are greeted by a host and given further instructions. On the beach is a tractor with a wagon that will transport luggage to and from the camp. Then walk to the camp along the beach or through the woods. Be prepared to hike 1 – 10 km.
